Have a fella 6.4m machine which bust a bearing terminal year, bought a new bearing just was very loose on the axle/shaft on the rotor...wear, corrosion etc. Only done l acres since and it feels loose again. Going to price upward a new shaft today just if its giddy money what are the other options? I have other things to spend money on at the moment. The car will only do sixty/70 acres a year. TIA

Either take information technology to an engineer and get information technology repaired properly or carefully build up with weld and file back to size. If it'due south one of the bulldoze shafts that run the length of the motorcar with UJ's connecting them then you'll have a little margin for error as the UJ will take up any play.

Yet if information technology's non likewise loose on the shaft then loctite bearing fit works well taking up a few one thousand slack

No its simply the shaft which goes downward to the wheel with the rotor on.. theres ii bearings on it. I'm renewing all the bushes on the arms besides as they are very loose causing the motorcar to rock dorsum and forth. To exist honest this is alot worse than the bearings and could sort the trouble, but thought i would do it all at once as its easy enough to disassemble.

Its on the internal diameter of the bearing were its slack. Just had a expect on ebay.. would a bit of bronze plate practise every bit a bush? I'll have to get a micrometer while i'm on.

I'd doubt information technology would be worn enough to accept a bush merely information technology'due south worth a try. It needs sorting properly as I'd imagine information technology volition affect how the gears mesh together

To Do information technology probably yous need accept shaft out and take information technology metal sprayed and turn back down . You lot might be able to go along it going with some chemic metallic , for at present

If it is not also bad can yous eye punch a few dabs on the shaft to stop bearings moving ?. If its worse than that your local car store could metal spray it to build it upwardly, or they could car downwards it and fit a sleeve. They could make you a new shaft just it doesn't ever work out cheaper.

I suppose thats a centre money fix but it should last.
One of those 'Liquid Metal' formulations?

I have a feeling its besides slack for that.. dont know what the gap is till i take it to bits though. What sort of gap will gum fill?

Should it be a cam lock type bearing i.e. 2 parts to the inner which are rotated to lock onto shaft?

How about punching the shaft to get in tighter and then install with the proper bearing fit chemical. Did some maxxum steering joints a few years ago and the gap was big plenty for a finger. Green begetting fit was used and still the same today (except it gets a bit more grease!)

The easiest option is to machine the shaft to have the adjacent size down bearing, but weeding and returning to the original diameter is better

Since the shaft is fixed and no worries of vibration I would practice it the inexpensive bodgers fashion edifice upwards with weld and smoothing down with a flap disc and file.

Should it be a cam lock blazon bearing i.eastward. two parts to the inner which are rotated to lock onto shaft?

thebearings are just bog standard 6012 2rs bearings. Thats whats shown on the Kramp diagram.

The easiest choice is to machine the shaft to take the next size down begetting, simply weeding and returning to the original bore is improve

not sure about machining it as there are other parts which fit onto the shaft with that diameter hole? Dont know without looking though. Lots of good options.. going to go prices for parts in a minute but wont strip the motorcar for a twenty-four hours or two as i'm on making a lamb counterbalance for tomorrow.. bit terminal minute job.
